Sontay's smart sensor wins BCIA award for technical innovation
News
Sontay was victorious at the BCIA virtual awards ceremony on Thursday 10th September, winning the Technical Innovation of the Year prize for its Sontay Smart Sensor.
Sontay was commended by the BCIA (Building Controls Industry Association) awards’ panellists for its innovative sensor, which enables greater comfort and control for end users and makes it easier for facilities managers to monitor data. Smart buildings are becoming increasingly more commonplace, with sensors such as the one provided by Sontay playing a vital role in analysing and responding to a building’s changing conditions. With a greater demand for smart sensors, it is no wonder Sontay’s unique solution has been recognised and applauded by industry experts.
Speaking on the rewarding news, Mark Newton, Managing Director from Sontay said: “We are thrilled to have won this award – it is testament to the quality, innovation and expertise of the Sontay brand and its people.”
“Our Smart Sensor truly sets itself apart from other products on the market, and it is wonderful to see it’s been recognised by the sector. It is capable of working over BACnet and Modbus networks, which are key protocols in the Building Controls industry right now. Smart Sensors are in higher demand than ever with the industry trends moving to this method of communicating data and making compatibility easier for installers and customers. When comparing installation costs of traditional two or three wire analogue signal sensors to that of a Sontay Smart Sensor savings of 60% can be achieved.”
“We have been listening to our customers and have dedicated a vast amount of time and development in manufacturing a product that meets their requirements. We are so glad to have been rewarded for all the hard work we do!”
The BCIA is a representative voice for the building controls and BEMS sector in the UK. The association holds annual awards ceremonies to celebrate the innovations and expertise within the sector. Although this year’s event had to be held via an online platform due to the pandemic, there were still opportunities for celebration and networking, with an appearance from comedian, Suzi Ruffell. Covid-permitting, next year’s ceremony will take place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.
